    24/7 Crisis response service, support for specialist medical forensic examinations and counselling referral support for those affected by recent or historic sexual abuse.

    Description:

    STAR (Sexual, Trauma, Abuse, Recovery) offers immediate crisis help 7-days a week for confidential advice, information and advocacy support to those who have experienced sexual harm, including support for their whanau.  

    Specialist Support Services include:

    • 24/7 sensitive care and assistance in a crisis
    • Advocacy and support
    • Assistance with Police interviews
    • Support with forensic medical examinations 
    • Sexual abuse assessment 
    • Support with follow-up medical examinations if required

    Advocacy support services include:

    • Face-to-face or remote crisis support during or immediately following a crisis
    • Face-to-face support sessions to provide information and coping mechanisms
    • Referral to other support providers that will best meet the survivor's needs, including ACC Sensitive Claims

    Crisis Social Support services include:

    • Support and assistance with practical matters during the crisis period
    • Accessing Work & Income support
    • Help with temporary emergency accommodation and basic necessities

    Translators can be available on request via external support agencies
