Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora - Southern Maternity Services
In the Southern region, which covers from Oamaru south, women have a number of options of where they can give birth and spend their postnatal stay.
Your pregnancy is unique, we look forward to you having a positive birthing experience within Southern maternity care.
You can decide where you want to give birth – at home, in a local primary maternity unit, or at a base hospital. For some women, your midwife or obstetrician will recommend that you give birth at Queen Mary Hospital in Dunedin, which offers highly specialised, tertiary-level care.
Learn more about each birthing option by clicking on the blue tiles below.
