Good food & active living
Through nutrition and physical activity, health promotion and advocacy in the Southern Region we aim to:
- Improve the health and wellbeing of Southern residents.
- Reduce the rates of obesity and related diseases e.g. diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer
- Reduce health inequities
This is actioned through:
- Improving food security and access to enough healthy food everyday
- Advocating for environments that encourage physical activity and healthy eating
- Promoting, protecting and supporting breastfeeding
Some examples of our work include:
- Baby and breastfeeding friendly places app / webpage - BURP (Breastfeeding’s Ultimate Refuel Place)
- Local coordination of National Campaigns e.g. Just Cook
- Coordination of local breastfeeding, and nutrition and physical activity networks
- Coordination of the Southern Pepi-Pod Programme
- Professional development for the health, education and social service sector
