Tititea Hauora Wānaka Overnight Acute Care Service

Tititea Hauora Wānaka Overnight Acute Care is now open.

This new nurse-led service is available from 11pm to 8.30am Monday – Friday, and 11pm – 9am Saturday, Sunday and public holidays, with remote telehealth support provided by Dunstan Hospital overnight senior Doctor.

For emergencies, people should call 111.

As this is not a drop-in service, patients are referred to the overnight service by either Hato Hone St John or via Ka Ora (0800 252 672). The patient will then be triaged in consultation with the Dunstan Hospital overnight doctor to determine the best course of action. This may include the patient presenting to the Wānaka Overnight Acute Care Service.

An experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) will provide the same services as a General Practice or small Emergency Department with telehealth support from the Dunstan Hospital overnight senior Doctor.

This may include:

  • assessment and observation
  • point of care blood testing
  • cardiac monitoring
  • fluids
  • pain medication
  • minor suture and laceration repair

The CNS will also assist in the delivery of advanced treatments to acutely unwell patients while awaiting urgent transfer to hospital.

Consultation fees from 11pm
