Loss and Grief Centre

    We are here to help with your issues of Loss and Grief.

    We offer support for people living with loss and grief of any sort- including grief from bereavement, separation, illness, isolation and other life changes. We offer a range of services including a formal counselling service and are here to provide tailored support for your individual situation.

    We have contractors who work across all our locations.

    Programme

    Drop In Service

    We are open throughout the week. Call in for a cuppa and a chat. We will do our best to help you find the support you feel comfortable with.

    Hours:

    Invercargill: Drop-In all week
    Monday - Friday; 10am - 4pm

    Gore: Weekly Drop-In
    Every Monday; 9.30am-1pm

    Support Groups

    Men's Support Group
    Meet with other men experiencing loss and grief in a warm, supportive environment.

    Women's Support Group
    Meet other women living with grief in a safe and supportive environment.

    General Grief Group
    An opportunity to comae along and meet others living with grief.

    Therapeutic Art Group
    An opportunity to come along and work through your loss using a range of art approaches.

    Walk and Talk Group
    Come along and meet others while walking.

    Please contact us if there's a support group we're not currently offering that you'd be interested in.

    Subsidised Counselling

    Subsidised counselling available. We provide Work and Income subsidised counselling.

    Community Care Service

    The community care service offers support to those who are unable to physically attend the loss and grief centre during open drop in hours. This service is designed to offer wider support to Southlanders living with loss and grief.

    Community Care can be provided at an individual's home, rest home or school.

    Maternacare Service

    Specialist support available for whanau who have experienced baby or pregnancy loss including:

    • specialist counselling sessions
    • access to monthly support groups
    • resource pack

    Charges

    There is no cost to use our drop in or support groups but we do appreciate a koha/donation.

    Subsidised counselling available.

    We provide Work and income subsidised counselling.

    The Loss and Grief Centre is reliant on community donations and grants.

    Workshops are run at a cost to participants.
