Alzheimers New Zealand

    Alzheimers New Zealand is the lead organisation at a national level representing people and whānau living with dementia mate wareware. Our role includes raising awareness of dementia mate wareware, providing information and resources, advocating for high quality services, providing practical tools to support a dementia mate wareware friendly Aotearoa New Zealand, and promoting research.

    We support local Alzheimers NZ organisations throughout Aotearoa New Zealand. Our local Alzheimers organisations provide support, education, information, and related services directly to members of their communities who are affected by dementia mate wareware. These services may include but are not limited to:

    • Support groups for people with dementia mate wareware
    • Support groups for carers and whānau
    • Home visits, carer education programmes
    • Community education
    • Volunteer programmes
    • Libraries and resources
    • Day and activity programmes

    Services Provided

    Advocacy
    Advocacy services can support you or work on your behalf when you are accessing health or social services. This can include listening to your concerns, talking through options with you and coming with you to appointments.
    Information and support
    Provision of information, guidance, advice, and resources.
    Whānau support
    Family / whānau support services provide support to improve the collective mental and/or physical wellbeing of the family / whānau.
    Elder abuse
    Elder abuse services support older people/kaumātua who have experienced harm or abuse.
