Southland Hospital Radiology team launches patient information videos for World Radiology Day
The Southland Hospital Radiology team celebrated World Radiology Day on Friday 8 November with the launch of a series of five videos for Southland patients to watch ahead of their scheduled appointments.
The videos are about common diagnostic procedures, including X-rays and scans conducted in CT, MRI, Fluoroscopy and Nuclear Medicine. These videos help demonstrate the environment and equipment used by Radiology for examinations so patients know what to expect before they come to hospital.
They are available to view on the Southern DHB’s YouTube channel Radiology Playlist, and radiology patients will be directed to the best video for them when they receive their written appointment information.
“We’re delighted that the Southland public has access to improved quality information about common Radiology procedures and hope they will help patients feel more relaxed before they arrive for their examination. Our focus is to reach as many groups in the Southland community as possible with further translations in other languages next on our agenda,” says Kirsten Worthington, Charge Nuclear Medicine MIT at Southland Hospital.
The team were able to produce the videos after winning the ‘Community Priority Award’ at the Southern Excellence Awards last year. The Southern Excellence Awards are held yearly and acknowledge Southern DHB staff and the important roles they play in providing care and support across the southern health system.
