Pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinics in Clutha community
People in the Clutha district have the opportunity to get their first or second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, with the last pop-up clinics of 2021 being held until December 18.
The walk-in clinics are organised by the Southern COVID-19 Vaccine Programme’s Dunedin Outreach Team in partnership with Clutha District Council. They do not require a booking. The council is putting on free ice-cream for those getting vaccinated. Southern DHB COVID-19 Vaccine Rollout Programme Lead, Karl Metzler encourages locals to come along and get protected.
“While the Clutha district’s vaccination rate of 92.3% for first doses and 86.4% for fully vaccinated demonstrates fantastic progress, we want to continue to reach unvaccinated people and those due for their second dose. Vaccination gives them the best chance to protect themselves and their community.”
Mr Metzler understands that some people might still feel a little anxious or have questions about the vaccine and he says they are encouraged to chat with clinical staff before getting a vaccination. There will be a safe space at the clinics to talk with a trained clinician or you can call 0800 28 29 26 (8am to 8pm, 7 days). You can also pop into your local vaccinating pharmacy for a free chat or talk to your GP or trusted health provider.
Mr Metzler thanks the Clutha District Council and mayor Bryan Cadogan for their hard work in supporting the clinics and their community.
