Working with Student Health and the University of Otago, WellSouth Primary Health Network has set up a temporary Covid-19 testing site at the University’s Dunedin Campus. This will increase swabbing capacity in the region and make it easier for students to access Covid testing - helping ensure there is no Covid-19 in our communities.
WellSouth CEO, Andrew Swanson-Dobbs says: “Swabbing continues to be available at most general practices across the district, but this extra capacity makes testing even more accessible and means general practices can also continue to deliver the Covid-19 vaccine to our populations - which further ensures the health and safety of our whānau.
“We are happy to help support the community and practices in our network by delivering Covid-19 testing on campus and thank the university and Student Health for working with us.”
The University of Otago’s Director Student Health Services Margaret Perley says the University is pleased to be collaborating with WellSouth on this initiative.
“We are very pleased to be partnering with WellSouth in setting up a Covid testing clinic on campus. This will enable Student Health to focus its staff resources on delivering primary care appointments via telehealth and in person as required.
“We encourage all students with symptoms to get tested and follow Alert Level 4 guidelines.”
Who should get tested:
Anyone with cold or flu symptoms should be tested. You should continue to abide by all Alert Level 4 requirements, stay at home, wear a mask if you leave your accommodation to access essential services, use the NZ Covid Tracer app, wash your hands frequently.
Anyone who has been at a location of interest at the date and times specified must isolate at home or at their accommodation and call Healthline (0800 358 5453) for advice on testing.
Keep checking the locations of interest site as these continue to increase as more cases have been identified.
