Join us in celebrating the annual International Day of Older Persons, a time to celebrate the value of older people and a chance to acknowledge their contributions to our communities; in the work place, as volunteers, as caregivers and as whole people, with dreams, aspirations, wisdom and experience.
Sharron Feist, Director of Nursing Strategy Primary & Community for Southern, says that it’s more important than ever to recognise our older peoples and the contribution this make in society.
“While our older peoples are living longer, the need to maintain function and health becomes even more important. We can all contribute by promoting fitness, wellness, and encouraging connections with their whānau and friends. Don't forget to take the time to check in on your elderly loved ones, close friends, and neighbours," Sharron suggests.
