On a typical day
There is never a typical day in this type of rural setting which makes for an interesting career. I hold a daily clinic and also have to be available to deal with any emergency work.
One way I’ve made a difference as a nurse
The difference I can make as a nurse in remote rural practice is to been able to deliver timely appropriate care to the community. This needs to be in a disciplined manner maintaining standards across the board.
What would you say to a person considering a career in nursing?
The advice I’d give to anyone looking at nursing as a profession is after training to gain as wide a scope of experience in different fields as possible before embarking on a Masters Degree and Nurse Practitioner /prescribing pathways.
